Today's Person County results from the
actions of many interesting individuals. The Person County Museum's
Prominent Personian Room, begun in 2002, reflects these contributions.
Exhibits recognize many dedicated, hard working men and women
including elected officials as well as leaders in agriculture,
literature, architecture, journalism, medicine and the arts, and other
folk known for a variety of reasons.
Government
officials featured include the 1970s NC Speaker of the House, James
Ramsey, and the President Pro Tem of the Senate, Gordon Allen. Richard
Long, another Prominent Personian, who was appointed by the governor to
serve on several influential committees during the 1950s and 1960s and
is credited with being instrumental in the establishment of a community
college system in North Carolina.
The exhibits in this room change
throughout the year.
